River Gaula, Mid-summer 2015

 Camp Gaula 2015  The beat is called Tranmæl Uddo. Conditions, in short: to cold. They said: the coldest start of summer in 90 years! Air temperature, average 10 degrees, water temperature 8-9 degrees. My grilse caught when waterflow at Gaulfossen was 220 kbm/s and water temperature 9 degrees (C)  Keeping track of water level  The X-Ray Shadow  Called sun heated shower, but with hardly any sun....  The trusted Trangia field kitchen For cold conditions, a copper cone sliding the tippet of leader, in lined with plastic tube

 Familiar area  In the spring, flooded  Bend-back fly with "swim bladder"  The fly always swim with hook point up; the best weed protected fly there is!   After underwing of bait-fish fibers, tie in 3mm thick foam strip, just a bit short of hook point; this is the "swim bladder" Finished fly with middle wing of silver angel-hair and top wing of dark bait-fish fibre

The spring season March 2015

 Light switch and size 12 Alexandra  4 degrees C in water, 8 in air. Waterlevel 151m3/s at Glomstadfoss, 166m3/s at Elverum  This season first spotted stoneflies, quite many of them!

Record early start of the flyfishing season!

3 degrees Celsius in water, 10 in air. Waterlevel Norsfoss 280m3/s, Elverum 179m3/s. Traditional wet-fly technique, Red Tag 3-4 flying stoneflies observed

Perfect salmon week!

 The spectacular Camping Fly Zone, requires long casts  Among many grilse, also a super salmon  Bjørn with one of the many grilse  Another freshly run silver salmon, 20 sea-lice  Playing big salmon from the upper part of the beat  Most of the days, the Camping Fly Zone with few if any fishing  The pool below the bridge. Very good sea-trout pool and affected by the tide.
